Current Visitor Arrangements
Monday to Friday – 9.30am to 2.30pm – screening through administration
Saturday, Sunday, and Public Holidays – 10.00am to 1.00pm – screening through administration
Visitor screening outside these times must be facilitated through administration to ensure staff are available at the nominated entry point to screen visitors into our care community.
Visitors are required to wash/sanitise their hands on entry and exit.
Visitors may be asked to attend to a COVID RAT test prior to entry. This will be conducted onsite.
Visitors are to present to administration for health screening and to receive screened Visitor Sticker. They are to provide evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination status at each visit.
Visitors are required to wear a correctly fitted surgical mask at all times during their visit.
Visitors are requested to remain in a resident’s room or utilise our outdoor areas visitors are to avoid common areas.
There is currently no restriction on numbers of visitors, however we encourage enough space for social distancing. There is currently no restriction on age of visitors.
Our visiting process is under constant and regular review by our Senior Clinical Management team.

RE: CHANGES FOR VISITORS TO MURROONA GARDENS CARE COMMUNITY
Residential aged care facilities across Queensland have restrictions in place to ensure the ongoing safety of residents and staff.
From 1am AEST Thursday 30 June 2022, there will be no COVID-19 vaccination requirement for someone visiting residential aged care facilities.
However, COVID-19 vaccination requirements will continue to be in place for workers at these healthcare settings. The operator of the healthcare setting must continue to comply with the COVID-19 vaccination requirements for healthcare workers.
Visitors cannot enter a residential aged care facility in Queensland if they:
- have COVID-19
- recently had COVID-19 and it has been 7 days or less since their isolation period ended
- are close contact, unless in exceptional or compassionate circumstances (e.g. an end of life visit)
- have returned from overseas in the last 7 days, unless in exceptional or compassionate circumstances (e.g. an end of life visit)
- have had a COVID-19 test and are waiting for the result (except for tests due to surveillance testing obligations)
- have COVID-19 symptoms or fever (37.5 degrees or more)
Visitors and volunteers are still required to:
- attend to administration for signing in, and provide their contact information on entry to our dedicated Visitor Screening staff
- attend to Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) prior to entry as directed
- when required, provide verbal confirmation and any relevant proof they are:
- fully vaccinated
- don’t have symptoms
- aren’t awaiting a COVID-19 test result
- aren’t subject to any other restrictions
- comply with any other measures Murroona Gardens Care Community has puts in place
- wash their hands before entering and leaving the facility
- stay 1.5 metres away from others where possible
- comply with mandatory face mask requirements
- stay away when unwell
- follow requests from Murroona Gardens to help keep staff and residents safe.
Unvaccinated visitors
Mitigating strategies have been introduced to facilitate unvaccinated visitors to our care home. Unvaccinated visitors will be required to:
- contact administration to book a visiting appointment in advance (this will allow time to implement risk mitigation.
- visit in the designated visiting areas only (no communal areas)
- attend to administration for signing in, and provide their contact information on entry to our dedicated Visitor Screening staff
- attend to Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) prior to entry as directed
- when required, provide verbal confirmation and any relevant proof they are:
- don’t have symptoms
- aren’t awaiting a COVID-19 test result
- aren’t subject to any other restrictions
- comply with any other measures Murroona Gardens Care Community has puts in place
- wash their hands before entering and leaving the facility
- stay 1.5 metres away from others where possible
- comply with mandatory face mask requirements

AGED CARE NATIONAL COVID SNAPSHOT-
As at 15 July, 2022 there were 7,947 active COVID-19 cases in 857 active outbreaks in residential aged care facilities across Australia.
Of these, 5,212 cases were in residents and 2,735 cases were in staff.
Total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic- 3,104
