A helping hand at home, our home care packages are coordinated packages of care and services to help you to live independently in your own home for as long as you can. Some people receive services through the Commonwealth Home Support Program and are then assessed for a home care package. Others will start with a home care package.
The benefit of a Home Care Package is that your home care provider will work with you to:
- choose care and services that best meet your needs and goals
- manage your care and services
- help with many everyday tasks
What services can I get at home?
Bathing and hygiene
To help you feel and look your best and maintain your personal hygiene and grooming standards, we can assist with getting in and out of bed, toileting, bathing, dressing, shaving and drying your hair, all in the comfort of your own home.
Meals and food preparation
If you’re finding it difficult to continue to cook for yourself, our home care team can assist you with preparing and cooking meals to make sure you continue to eat well. We can also help with special dietary requirements for health, religion or cultural reasons.
Cleaning, home maintenance and gardening
These are services that help keep your home liveable including vacuuming, mopping, laundry and minor garden maintenance.
What’s next?
Before you can access government-subsidised aged care services for the first time, you need to apply for an assessment. It’s the same form to apply for all types of care and support, including help at home, short term care, and care in our aged care home. You can complete the application yourself or on behalf of a family member or friend. If you need care immediately due to unforeseen circumstances, please call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422.
